Celeb Fave: Diane von Furstenberg

Posted by kim on January 25, 2010

Well-regarded fashion designer and former Austro-Italian princess Diane von Fürstenberg became a powerful fashion icon in the 70s when she created the influential ‘wrap dress’, an example of which hangs at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Smithsonian Institute (source). The popular design, which began a women’s fashion trend due to its revolutionary versatility, is notable for its dual status as comfortable business wear and elegant evening dress.

Diane’s son, Alexander von Furstenberg (Alex), is a partner and director in the Diane von Furstenberg Studio, which is now known globally as a luxury lifestyle brand among the rich and famous. Alex took the company from $1 in annual revenue to more than $200 million. Wow. Alex is also a co-managing member and chief investment office of Arrow Capital Management, LLC. I wish he would want to invest in this blog!

Alice Cullen, played by Ashley Greene, wore a grey Diane Von Furstenberg (DVF) Oleada lace chiffon ruffle dress in Twilight movie.

Paris Hilton wore a Diane von Furstenberg Diana Wrap Dress in New Wonder Woman to the promotional launch of Keteke.com at the Hotel Palace in Madrid, Spain.

Katharine McPhee wore a DVF Sybil Silk Shirtdress to the Diane Von Furstenberg Fall 2009 fashion show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City.

Other celebrities spotted wearing the DVF label have included Lauren Conrad, Eva Longoria, Whitney Port, Eva Mendes, Jessica Simpson, Katherine Heigl, Christine Lakin, Nicole Richie, Kim Kardashian, Sophia Bush and Gwen Stephani.
