Capped Sleeves
Cap-sleeved wedding gowns are in high demand this year. They are a great choice for the bride who wants a little something on the arm, but not too much. Cap sleeves are available in a variety of fabrics… the most popular including lace, sheer tulle, and silk. The best benefit of a cap sleeve is that it can be worn beautifully any time of the year.
Long Sleeves
Long sleeves are dominating the bridal industry in 2012. Lace is by far the most popular choice. However, sheer sleeves can also be very subtle and super romantic. Keep in mind, if you choose a long-sleeved wedding gown, the only appropriate season to wear them, depending on your location, would be in the fall or winter months.
Three-Quarter-Inch Sleeves
This style is a great compromise between a cap sleeve and long sleeve. It hits right above the elbow, giving coverage but also showing a little skin. As with the others, lace and sheer fabrics are all the rage. Three-quarter-inch sleeves are normally worn in the cooler months, but can be worn in spring as well.
Capelets
Capelets are worn as a way to cover the shoulders. They are the perfect alternative to a shawl and give a lovely vintage feel to the overall wedding gown. However, keep in mind that they go over the head in most cases. Sheer capelets are absolutely stunning and can be embellished to any bride’s taste. Many brides think capelets are just for winter weddings, but they are also suitable for fall events as well.
High Necklines
High necklines are definitely a top trend for 2012. They come in different styles, such as sleeveless or criss-cross straps. Any fabric can be used to create this dramatic look that has really caught the eye of top wedding dress designers. A high neckline can be a wink and a nudge to traditional weddings, yet still be modern and chic. This style can be worn any time of year.
