I have been using Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place eyeliner in Forest for years and years as most other eyeliner brands have irritated my eyes. I would stock up when Estee Lauder offered free gifts with purchase.
Estee Lauder’s Forest eyeliner seemed to be the perfect hue for my hazel eyes.
But then Estee Lauder changed their colors on me! Am I the only person that used the color Forest?
I ordered some the new Estee Lauder colors to test out since I knew I liked the Estee Lauder formula, but I did not like the new colors:
- Emerald Volt – this color was too bright green
- Coffee – this color was too brown
- Night Violet – this color was too purple
- Sapphire – this color was too blue
I checked out Ebay, but there was only one listing for Forest, and they wanted $40+ – eyeliner scalper!
I also tried Arbonne’s Sage Eye Liner in Sage, but I didn’t like the texture (too hard to apply).
I then asked a group for beauty bloggers for their recommendations.
I got eye liner recommendations for Mac, Nars, Bobbie Brown, Urban Decay, Lancome, Mufe, Marc Jacobs and Beauty Bakery. I researched every one of their suggestions and narrowed the list down down to test these:
- MAC Pro Longwear Eyeliner in Devotion, $21
- Lancome Le Crayon Khol EyeLiner in Moss, $26
- Bobbie Brown Long-Wear Eye Pencil in Hunter, $26
- Lancome Le Stylo Waterproof Long Lasting EyeLiner in Ivy, $27
I ordered all of them from Nordstrom.com as separate orders because Nordstrom offers free shipping plus your choice of 3 free samples with every order.
The eyeliner winner to replace my Estee Lauder Forest eyeliner is….
MAC Pro Longwear Eyeliner in Devotion! It is was the least expensive of the choices!
Bobbi Brown’s eyeliner came in second, but their pencil was too soft and broke when on my first application. Keeping that into consideration, it made so you didn’t have to apply hard, but the Bobbi Brown eyeliner didn’t appear as waterproof as the MAC eyeliner (spit test).
What is your favorite eyeliner?
