Plastic surgery has helped and saved lives, no question about it. They help celebrities who want to enhance their physical appearance, and they help those with physical deformities (cleft lips, for example.) Like medical doctors, they perform operations that’s either a success or a failure. When it fails, the surgeon needs to perform corrective surgery which is very, very difficult, and more risks come with it. Sometimes it may even be life threatening and you can find such examples here – Plastic surgery gone wrong – The 75 worst plastic surgery stories ever.
It’s true that plastic surgery can indeed make you pretty – provided you are able to hire a good surgeon, and the surgery goes well. There are celebrities who actually look good after a plastic surgery. They look even more beautiful with it. But this doesn’t last long. And you may need to have another plastic surgery if you want to stay pretty.
In This Post:
Having Realistic Expectations
Plastic surgeries will most likely go well if the person is still younger – not over 50 years old. Otherwise, it’s going to be difficult to fix an old face and make it younger. In fact, you will never look 15 years younger than your age when you get plastic surgery. A couple of years younger, perhaps. If you’re over 50 and still trying to look young, don’t keep your hopes up.
Don’t go to your plastic surgeon and say you want to look like a particular celebrity. Come on, surgeons aren’t fairy godmothers. They’re not magicians either. They can’t just wave their wand and make you look pretty. You should come to an understanding that plastic surgery will not make you become another person, just a better one. At least better than yourself, physically of course.
It’s sad to think that some people get plastic surgeries and think that it’s going to make them feel better about themselves. They think it’s going to fix their lives. Having a bigger butt won’t make your unfaithful husband suddenly stop cheating. While it can enhance something on the outside, it won’t be able to fix your entire life.
Worst Things Can Happen
Don’t get too overwhelmed with positive thoughts about plastic surgery. Yes, it pays to be optimistic sometimes, yet when it comes to plastic surgery where side effects do happen, it’s best to prepare for it. Ask your surgeon about the risks involved, and how you are going to overcome them. Will there be a need for another surgery, just in case? Calculate the risk before deciding the type of plastic surgery that you want.
A Word About Leeches
A little trivia: Do you know that these slimy and blood-sucking creatures are actually helpful to surgeons? When all else fails, they resort to using leeches for reconstructive surgery. Their saliva contains chemicals that prevent blood clots. It’s helpful for breast lift operations gone wrong too.
Mirror Mirror on the Wall, Who’s the Prettiest of Them All?
For a time, yes, a plastic surgery can make you pretty. Perhaps even the most beautiful girl, at least to your mother’s eyes. Kidding aside, remember that it’s not all about beauty. Attitude and confidence play a role too (but this is another story.)
It’s okay to be pretty, just make sure you know how to stay that way.
