Celebrity couples spare no expense for most things, especially their weddings and honeymoons.

1. Tom and Katie

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were wed at Odescalchi Castle in Bracciano, Italy, on 18th November 2006. The couple invited 150 guests and Katie wore a custom made Giorgio Armani gown with Swarovski crystals and hand-embroidered stitching. Tom sweetly recreated his famous vocal performance from the movie “Top Gun” by serenading Katie with, “You’ve Lost that Lovin’ Feeling.”

The famous actors spent their lavish honeymoon on a secret island in the Maldives bringing a whopping 40 pieces of luggage with them. They travelled from island to island on a luxury yacht, the 285-foot Arctic P, enjoying the sun and surf.

2. David and Victoria

David Beckham and Victoria Adams (aka ‘Posh Spice’) wed in July 1999 at Luttrellstown Castle, just outside Dublin. Guests to the wedding were asked to wear black or white and the couple sat in red velvet thrones while greeting them. A magnificent firework display ended the evening’s festivities.

The couple was forced to cancel an elaborate honeymoon to the Far East because David was unable to take time away from the football pitch, but on 8th March 2006 he surprised Victoria by planning a ceremony to renew their vows. The famous duo jetted off on a second honeymoon, which began with a shopping spree in Paris. David told his renewed bride to select anything she wanted for her second wedding gift from her favourite stores Azzedine Alaia and Colette.

3. Carrie and Mike

Country crooner Carrie Underwood wed her hockey player, Mike Fisher, in July 2010 wearing a Chantilly lace and silk gown. The lavish ceremony held at the Ritz-Carlton Reynolds Plantation (where?) even included her beloved dog Ace wearing a Swarovski crystal encrusted tuxedo.

Their Tahiti honeymoon included a $1000 a night glass bottom suite at the exclusive Le Taha Resort paradise and spa where the couple could view sea life any time they were not otherwise occupied. The newlyweds had the option of kayaking, scuba diving and snorkelling, but they mostly seemed to enjoy romantic strolls along the island.

4. William and Kate

Of course an extravagant list of celebrity weddings wouldn’t be complete without including the royal wedding of Kate Middleton and Prince William. Kate wore a classically romantic Sarah Burton gown with a corseted bodice and delicate lace embroidery. Additionally, a nine foot train swept its way behind the bride as she walked into the Abbey. William was perfectly handsome in his red-coloured, medal-adorned Colonel of the Irish Guard uniform.

The royal couple spent their extremely private honeymoon in the Seychelles for 10 days. They arrived by private jet and chartered helicopters and had access to the resort’s private marina offering deep sea fishing, scuba diving and sailing.

While not everyone can have an elaborate wedding and honeymoon that matches celebrity standards, we sure can have fun living vicariously and gathering inspiration from their fantastical lives.
