Who hasn’t found themselves thumbing through a fashion magazine or even a tabloid and secretly wishing that they could dress like their favorite celebrity? The thing is, a lot of us might have the desire or even the natural sense of style, but when it comes to our budgets, well, let’s just say that looking like a star requires more than creativity; it requires some money too.

We totally get where you’re coming from and that’s why we wanted to providing you with five ways to dress like a celebrity for a fraction of the cost. And just how can you do that? Check out these tips on how to dress like a celebrity for a fraction of the price.

Wear a Celebrity’s Fashion Line

It seems like almost every day, a new celebrity is popping up with a fashion line. The Kardashians, Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie, Ashley and Kate Olsen, Kimora Lee Simmons, Selena Gomez, Beyonce—all of these are women who have clothing lines that are priced in a way that the “non-superstar” can (fairly) easily afford.

Get Some Staple Pieces

If you pay close attention to a lot of stars, you will notice that certain items are simple and solid. Some of these include jeans, T-shirts and boots. Then, they simply dress them up with other items and accessories. The benefit with this particular tip is that you can get your own staple pieces at Target or Old Navy for a low cost and then simply “build from there”.

Take the Magazines With You

Have you ever noticed that right after awards season, there are stores that will almost immediately come out with knock-off versions of the dresses that were featured on the red carpet? (They will probably do the same thing with prom dresses too.) What certain companies do is look for the dress and then “copy” it. Along these same lines, if you see a particular look that you like in a high-end fashion magazine, bookmark it and then take it with you to your favorite stores to see what you can find that comes close to it. Thanks to stores like Forever 21 and H&M or even online stores such as Overstock, it shouldn’t be hard to find pieces that will fit the bill.

Purchase a Couple of Really Nice Accessories

If you have a couple of accessories that you paid a pretty penny for, you can easily walk out in a tank, some jeans and a scarf around your neck and still look “paparazzi ready”. A brand name purse or sunglasses or a couple of pair of high-end shoes will upgrade any outfit, any time. The great thing about these accessories is that they can be used over and over again.

Always Keep Your Hair and Nails Done

A celebrity is aware that people are always watching. That’s why it’s rare that you’ll see them with bed head or with a face that looks like they slept in their makeup. Honestly, when it comes to looking like a celebrity for less, one of the best things that you can do is make sure to keep your hair done and that your manicure (and pedicure) is fresh. Those are simple tips, but when they are in place…everything else falls into place. Fabulously.
