Are you a devoted yogi, or thinking of taking your first yoga class? It doesn’t matter what stage you’re at in your spiritual journey, looking great is class is just as important as feeling great. And looking great means nailing the perfect outfit.
Yoga is the perfect way to reawaken your spirituality, and as well as its obvious physical benefits, it is also a great sport for your emotional and mental wellbeing. When thinking about what to wear you need something relaxed but stylish, well-fitting but comfortable. Here are some top tips for ensuring you have the perfect yoga outfit for every occasion:
Leggings or Capri Pants
Whilst you may well see experienced yogis practicing in hareem pants or other loose items, it is recommended that you begin your yoga journey wearing fitted leggings or capri pants. Wearing bottoms that fit you snugly will make it easier for you (and your instructor) to check that alignment of your hip, leg and knees is correct in each different pose that you try.
Choose black leggings, or leggings with black panels, for a form flattering look that will make your legs look slimmer and coordinate perfectly with any coloured top you choose to wear. This is important if you want to wear your workout clothes all day long!

Pick a Fitted Tank Top
Want to show off a gym honed bod or a perfectly primed six pack? Then you’ll be delighted to hear that crop tops are back in vogue and there is no better place to wear one than a yoga class!
If you prefer to be a little more modest then a full length tank top is also a great option, but tank tops are definitely preferred. Because the free movement of your arms is so important to correct yoga positioning, a fitted tank top will give you the freedom and the movement that you need.
Look for supportive panels to accentuate your body shape, give you hold where you need it, and create curves in all the right places.

Don’t Forget a Sports Bra
Finally, don’t forget to wear a high control sports bra under your yoga outfit. Although sports bras are rarely the most fashion-forward offerings, this will hold you in place, and prevent you from causing any damage to your breast tissue from exercising. Pick a sports bra that complements or contrasts with the shade of your tank top to create a feature of the multiple straps within your outfit.

Throw your hair on top of your head in a loose top knot style and paint your toe nails (because yoga bunnies almost always work out bare foot) and you’ll be the most stylish in class!
