FR Clothing has now become a very common purchase for all risk workers in electric worksite or chemical factories or construction sites. But many doubts and misconceptions are going around about FR clothing.

Here are the top eight questions that are asked:

1. What does the term mean?

The term FR refers to Flame Resistant; hence it is not Fire Proof as many think it to be so. This means that these clothes are ones that can self-extinguish themselves when they catch fire.

But one the source of the fire needs to be removed. This basically buys you some time so that you can get off the clothes as fast as possible.

2. How to take care of FR Clothing?

FR Clothing is normally very tough and strong. But if in any case the apparel gets stained or suffers minor damage, then the clothing should immediately be washed properly with warm to cold water and soap.

Do not delay the process, or it might not be easy after a period of time. But in case it is too much ruined, then disposing of is the best option.

3. Is FR clothing for both genders?

Protection is unisexual; hence FR clothing is obvious for everyone working in risky areas irrespective of gender.

You can always browse up any store to see the collection for both the genders. Each of the variety, beginning from overalls to shirts to jeans, are available for both men and women.

4. How to treat FR Clothing?

Washing and drying FR clothes need no special handle. They can be washed in normal detergent powder. But never use bleach or softener or color retainer during the wash. Dry the garment inside out to avoid the direct rays of the sun.

Also, wash and dry your FR clothing individually to avoid friction with the other garments. Violating them reduces the longevity of the FR apparels.

5. How to choose the appropriate FR Clothing?

While opting for your FR cloth first, consider the risk percentage youll be using this garment.

Because each garment has its own resistance power, also, your FR clothing must not be too tight to be sticking to your physique neither too loose to be falling off. Take just a size larger than the size of your normal wear.

6. What are the two types of FR clothing?

FR fabrics are basically of two types Inherentand Treated .In the case of inherent fabric, the fibers need to be engineered into fabrics to manufacture the garment then.

But for treated fabric, the engineering has to be done after treating the already present fibers into a proper FR garment.

7. What is the meaning of HRC?

HRC abbreviated from Hazard Risk Category is the measure with the help of which one comes to know the levels of protection the garment offers.

The levels range from 0-4, where 0 stands as the least, and four stands as the highest level of resistance. They are determined in relevance to the risk stage of the electrical maintenance jobs.

8. How to understand its efficiency?

There are some major globally acclaimed institutions like OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials), NFPA (National Fire Protection Association), who have come up with certain rules and regulations.

For proper assurance, your FR clothing should be maintaining those guidelines.

Conclusion:

One needs to understand FR clothing is not foolproof. Mishaps do happen, but the intensity is low. It is always advised to take proper precautions to avoid severe injuries.

If there are any details you want to know about your clothing, then it is always suggested that you reach out to your manufacturer for all information.
