Hand bags are usually a staple piece of most women’s attire. Considering how much we use them, we should probably start showing our bags a little more love. Luckily this fall we can do just that by treating our bags (and ourselves) to some TLC with bag charms. Bag charms are cute and lively, and they can add a touch of personal style to your bag, belt, keys, or anything else you can hook it on. They go perfectly with the care free feel of a bandeau with a maxi skirt and a long crochet sweater or vest.
Bag charms are great for fall because they are so easy to make with neutral tones. They have an earthy feel to them, and you can make them yourself with little treasures you find throughout your day. Find a pretty rock, a little button off of your favorite old shirt, or use a charm from a broken or thrifted necklace. Have fun with this project! It doesn’t matter if you use something old and familiar or buy new things; charms beg to be touched when they look like they were made with care and they will be the perfect complement for your boho bag.
When making your own, experiment with different textures, such as mixing leather with fur, silver with gold, or feathers and stones. String your collection of goodies onto a clip from the hardware store with leather ribbon or thin twine. You can experiment with the lengths and be sure that you have one or two charms that really catch the eye. You can even accent these pieces with fun beads and knots.
When it comes to making your charms, the more time you put into it, the more you will love it. If you don’t have the do-it-yourself gene, there are plenty of places that sell cute bag charms. If you want to be adventurous, but don’t have a lot of ideas, shop around for inspiration. It will be well worth the time once you see your creation attached to your favorite bag.
So this fall, when you’re adorning yourself with cute accessories like boho jewelry and feather earrings, don’t forget to do the same for your bag!
